Rubber Crosslinking Organic Peroxide
Organic peroxides are indeed important crosslinking agents in rubber manufacturing. They are used to create a three-dimensional network structure (crosslinking) within the rubber, enhancing its properties like strength, elasticity, and heat resistance. This process, known as vulcanization, is crucial for producing durable and high-performing rubber products, especially in applications requiring high-temperature resistance.
Many rubber types can be crosslinked using organic peroxides, including natural rubber (NR), Chloroprene rubber (CR),polyisoprene rubber (IR), polybutadiene rubber (BR), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR), and silicone rubber. Other rubber polymers like ethylene-propylene copolymers (EPM, EPDM), and fluoro rubber (FPM) can also be peroxide-cured.
